Vestnes Ocean have signed a contract with Grieg Shipping for 10 new L-class vessels. The ships are being built in South Korea.

This is a happy day for us says Vestnes Ocean`s marketing and sales director Lone M. Bareksten. We have earlier supplied furniture to the 4 vessels of the K-class that Grieg built in Korea in 2008 and 2009. This is the best statement that Grieg are satisfied with us as a supplier of marine furniture to the ship building industry.

We are happy to announce that Vestnes Ocean has signed a new contract of outfitting the accommodation of the vessel Deep Energy which is on its way from China these days. The vessel has an accommodation for 140 persons. We are starting on the job in the end of October and it will be finished in July 2012.

The contract was won in a tight market and we are glad to be back at the STX yard which we have supplied accommodation packages to since 1990. The yard has been world leading in building chemical tankers and juice tankers. The last years they have done rebuilding, maintenance and repairs of different kind of vessels. The signing of this contract is great news for both Vestnes group and for the region around Florø.

The furniture will be manufactured at Vestnes FMT in Frei.

We are happy to be able to deliver furniture to Ulstein Verft which is considered to be top of the class regarding shipbuilding. Their focus on design and new technology matches Vestnes Ocean`s vision which is “Vestnes Ocean is a Norwegian supplier of forward-thinking interior solutions for the maritime environment. FMT has a long history from 1950 as a manufacturer of complete interiors for the health market, especially towards pharmacies. It is a factory with modern equipment for production of furniture of plywood, mdf or chipboards and with highly qualified personnel to make high quality furniture.

“This acquisition will give us a new benefit as we will be able to develop our furniture further and we will be able to control the production ourselves”, CEO Jonny Bjørnset in Vestnes Norway says. It is also interesting with a new market for us as the health sector is quite new to us.
